Asser Round Table Sessions, Conferences and Lectures on International Sports Law
At the beginning of 1995, the T.M.C. Asser Institute initiated a series of debates entitled the Asser Round Table Sessions. The sessions are geared towards providing a forum for informal discussion on topical issues in International and European Law. To ensure an ideal working environment, participation, in principle, is per invitation only and attendance, in principle, is kept to a maximum of 30-45 persons. According to the topic under discussion, experts from relevant sectors (universities, ministries, Parliament, legal practice, NGOs, etc.) are invited to take part in the debate. The Asser Round Table Sessions are held on a regular basis, including special meetings on aspects of international sports law.
Besides Round Table Sessions, Conferences and Asser Sports Law Lectures, in 2001 the Asser-Clingendael International Sports Lecture was instituted as a yearly event. It is a joint initiative of the two Hague partner institutions, the Netherlands Institute for International Relations ‘Clingendael’ and the T.M.C. Asser Institute for International Law. Prominent speakers are invited to lecture on topical issues of an international political and/or legal nature.
Asser sports law events are, in principle, open to the press.
