Annual Private International Law meetingPublished 3 June 2016
On 26 May 2016, a meeting was held at the institute bringing together those who are involved in teaching or researching private international law in the Netherlands. The meeting was divided in two parts. During the first part, experiences of the past year were shared. Short presentations were made on the way education and research in private international law takes place at the Dutch universities. During the second part two presentations were given on the future EU regulation on matrimonial property regimes. Ms Anne Marie Terhorst of the Netherlands Ministry of Justice explained the specifics of developing an EU instrument on the basis of enhanced cooperation. Prof. Mathijs ten Wolde of the University of Groningen explained the basic system of the current proposal and outlined some of the changes it would bring to the current law in the Netherlands.
