EU Law Symposium

Published 30 April 2015

On 23 April 2015, the EU Law Cluster of the Asser Institute organised a jubilee EU Law Symposium on “Better Regulation in the EU Revisited: Benefiting Business and Citizens” to mark 50 years of the Institute’s existence and its successful engagement in scholarly and policy debates on the core issues of EU law. The event brought officials from the European Court of Justice, the European Parliament, the Commission, the Council and the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with prominent academics to discuss institutional and substantive aspects of the EU’s Better Regulation Agenda. Keynote speeches were given by Prof. Ben Smulders, the Head of Cabinet of the First Vice-President of the European Commission, Mr Frans Timmermans, and by Mr Piet Hein Donner, Vice-President of the Netherlands Council of State. The event built on Asser’s 1997 conference and edited volume on the quality of EU legislation. More information can be found here.
