Dr. Frederik Naert

Frederik Naert is a member of the Legal Service of the Council of the EU (since 2007) and visiting lecturer at the KU Leuven Faculty of Law. His main research interests include EU external relations law, the law of international organisations and international humanitarian and human rights law. At the Legal Service of the Council of the EU, he has been dealing with EU external relations and fisheries and has acted as an agent for the Council in several cases before the EU Court of Justice and General Court. He is the author of “International Law Aspects of the EU’s Security and Defence Policy, with a Particular Focus on the Law of Armed Conflict and Human Rights” (Intersentia) and the co-editor of “The EU as a Global Actor: Bridging Legal Theory and Practice. Liber Amicorum in honour of Ricardo Gosalbo Bono” (eds, Brill Nijhoff) with J. Czuczai and “Legal Instruments in the Fight Against International Terrorism: A Transatlantic Dialogue” (Martinus Nijhoff) with C. Fijnaut and J. Wouters.
