Profile

Hanna Thuránszky holds an MA in Hispanic and Latin-American Languages and Literature and a post-graduate Certificate of Public International Law, both from Leiden University.

During her years working at the Netherlands Migration Institute, in 1990 she was the only female member of the five-person Netherlands Government Delegation to the UN to observe the first free and democratic elections in Nicaragua.

In 1991 she joined the Department of Public International Law of Leiden University as Associate Professor and Director of the Telders International Law Moot Court Competition. Besides organising the Competition she carried out research in the field of international fact-finding, assisted to establish the Moot Court training course as part of the legal curriculum and delivered classes for the same course. Hanna is still regularly judging at the final pleading sessions of the Moot Court & Advocacy course at Leiden Law School.

In 2000 she was recruited as part of a project team to set up at the Amsterdam office of Clifford Chance LLP what was to become the global Clifford Chance Academy.  In her latest role as Regional Manager Continental Europe she was among other things responsible for communicating, liaising, developing and maintaining contacts with internal stakeholders (Partners, local HR etc.) and the external professional training field. She also delivered parts of the curriculum.

In 2017-2018 Hanna was co-coach for the winning Dutch high-school team of the International Moot Court in The Hague simulating the proceedings of the ICC and in 2019 she was a member of the project team organising the annual Prinsjesfestival in The Hague.
