Presentation at ESIL’s Annual Conference

On 9 September, Asser senior researcher Christophe Paulussen provided a presentation during the 12th Annual Conference of the European Society of International Law (ESIL) in Riga, Latvia. His presentation was entitled ‘The Foreign Fighter Phenomenon in Europe: Preventive and Punitive Approaches’ and he spoke in the context of ‘Forum 8: Current Events: Current Challenges in Countering Terrorism - Preventive and Punitive Responses’. The session was chaired by Jānis Kažociņš (National Security Adviser to the President of Latvia, Secretary to the National Security Council) and the two other panellists were Prof. Helen Duffy (Director of ‘Human Rights in Practice’; University of Leiden) and Prof. Martin Scheinin (European University Institute; former UN Special Rapporteur on human rights and counter-terrorism).
