International Centre for Counter-Terrorism (ICCT)

The International Centre for Counter-Terrorism (ICCT) is an independent knowledge centre on counter-terrorism and preventing/countering violent extremism, with a special focus on human rights and the rule of law.

ICCT was founded in 2010 as a project-based collaboration between three Dutch institutions: Stichting Nederlands Instituut voor Internationale Betrekkingen 'Clingendael'; the T.M.C. Asser Instituut; and the University of Leiden’s Institute of Security and Global Affairs (ISGA).

In the past years, ICCT has developed into a mature brand with a clear vision and strategy, world-class experts and robust track record of impactful work.

As of April 2021, ICCT will continue its mission as a new legal and independent entity. ICCT will benefit from an even closer partnership with the T.M.C. Asser Institute and ISGA, while continuing to recognise Clingendael as a preferred partner. As such, ICCT can tap into a deep well of academic knowledge and a broad network of experts to strengthen its work with policymakers and practitioners in the field of counterterrorism and P/CVE.
