Having undertaken her LLB at The University of Essex and Legal Practice Course at BPP University, Catherine completed her training contract at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London including a secondment to Oxfam GB's legal team. Upon qualification as a Solicitor of England & Wales in 2013, she joined the International Arbitration team at Hogan Lovells in Paris. She subsequently gained further experience in human rights and international criminal law with REDRESS and the Sri Lanka Campaign for Peace and Justice in London as well as working on death penalty cases in Florida. She undertook an LLM with Collaborative Program in Women and Gender Studies at the University of Toronto, with her thesis on the response of domestic and international criminal justice systems to sexual violence against men and boys during conflicts. Prior to joining the Asser Institute, Catherine spent time with Human Rights Watch in Canada and completed an internship with the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
