In November of last year, the United Nations Human Rights Committee released its groundbreaking general comment on the right to life. Prof. Yuval Shany, chairperson of the Committee and special rapporteur for the general comment, made clear its significance: “The right to life is the prerequisite for the enjoyment of all other human rights. The general comment provides a rich and authoritative statement of the obligations deriving from the right to life, which the Committee defines as ‘the supreme right.’”

The Asser Institute is pleased to host the next event of Le Club de Droit International, in cooperation with the Israeli Embassy. Prof. Yuval Shany, Chairperson of the UN Human Rights Committee, will address the Committee’s General Comment on the Right to Life, moderated by  Prof. Yvonne Donders, University of Amsterdam.
