Join us for a training on climate litigation and regulation - one of the fastest-moving areas of the legal landscape today. This two-day course gives you a practical, up-to-date understanding of that landscape - from international foundations to European regulation - so you can navigate it with confidence.
In recent years, courts at every level - from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) to national judiciaries - have fundamentally reshaped the legal obligations of governments and businesses on climate change. Civil society is also leveraging the law in many creative ways to hold public and private actors accountable.
Climate litigation cases are growing both in number and success rate. Therefore, understanding the content and application of international and regional climate law is becoming essential across sectors and roles.
In collaboration with SEVEN — the University of Amsterdam's interdisciplinary climate institute, we offer a short course providing a broad understanding of key areas in international and European climate law.

About the programme
Day one focuses on the international stage, covering the UN climate regime, the ICJ Advisory Opinion on climate change, climate obligations under international human rights law, and strategic climate litigation.
Day two zooms in on climate law in Europe, looking at the European Climate Law and relevant regulations, the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and the Klimaseniorinnen case, the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) and climate obligations for corporations, and the Energy Charter Treaty.
