Workshop Series is Launched: Inter-University Programme on International Criminal Law and Procedure for Ukrainian Law Schools, 2025-2026 edition

The Asser Institute is proud to announce the start of the Inter University Programme on International Criminal Law and Procedure for Ukrainian Law Schools (IUP 2.0) Workshop Series, organised under the ‘Restoring Dignity and Justice in Ukraine’ consortium project funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of law faculties across Ukraine to teach and conduct academic research related to international criminal law and procedure, while also promoting engagement and cooperation with international academics and legal professionals on broader questions of justice and accountability for international crimes.
The Workshop Series will comprise four 1.5 hour-specialised workshops, developed in coordination with and based on input from Ukrainian law faculty members and researchers. The series is scheduled between February and April 2026 every two-three weeks on Thursday and will be held exclusively in English:
- 19 February 2026, 17:00 – 18:30 EET (Kyiv); Teaching International Criminal Law: Comparative Methodological and Curriculum Insights.
- 12 March 2026, 17:00 – 18:30 EET (Kyiv); Retroactive Application of the 2024 International Crimes Amendments № 4012-IX to the Ukrainian Criminal Code.
- 2 April 2026, 17:00 – 18:30 EET (Kyiv); Special Tribunal for Crime of Aggression against Ukraine: Challenges and Perspectives.
- 23 April 2026, 10:00 – 11:30 EET (Kyiv); Corporate Criminal Responsibility for International Crimes: Ukraine.
The aim is to discuss and address complex legal issues impacting efforts to ensure accountability for international crimes perpetrated in Ukraine, focusing on pedagogical approaches and teaching methodologies used by academic teaching staff in their courses that are effective, address the needs of students and integrate developments in their curricula.

Asser Institute, the Center for International Legal Cooperation (CILC), and the Netherlands Helsinki Committee (NHC).
