Regulering Achterdeur Coffeeshops / Cultivation of cannabis for coffee shops

Sep 28, 2005 - Dec 12, 2005

Project description

The project extensively analysed the applicable provision of public international law, in particular the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs and the Convention against Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances. On the basis of this analysis, it was concluded that there is no room to adopt the envisaged policy. As European law is oriented in this respect towards public international law, the same conclusion was drawn in regard of that branch of law.

Topic

Public International Law; European Law; Regulation

Objective

Advising the Ministry with respect to the question whether the cultivation of cannabis with a view to the supply of coffee shops could be seen as compatible with both international and European law.
