International Crimes Database & Web-environment

Dec 1, 2011 - Dec 31, 2015

Project description

The ICD project seeks to offer a comprehensive database of international crimes adjudicated by national,
as well as international and internationalized courts. In addition, the website will incorporate general
background information about international crimes, academic and news articles, working papers, a
discussion forum, streaming and video presentations and a social media platform to facilitate and
stimulate interaction by our various users.
The project outputs are various:
-case summaries
-general background information about international crimes
-academic and news articles
-working papers
-discussion forum
-streaming and video presentations
-social media platform

The working plan of the project was the following:
-Phase 1 (year 1): correct and update the basis of the International Crimes Database (ICD), the DomCLIC database. Hire interns to produce case summaries not yet on the DomCLIC database. Create a steering committee. Broaden (financial) support for the project. Start the creation of the new website. Initiate some of the secondary products of the project (general background information about international crimes). If possible: try to launch the new website.
-Phase 2 (year 2): launch the new website. Continue working on new cases and broadening (financial) support for the project. Broaden the network (case correspondents). Further develop the secondary products of the project (general background information about international crimes, academic and news articles, working papers, a discussion forum, streaming and video presentations and a social media platform).
-Phase 3 (year 3): Continue working on new cases and broadening (financial) support for the project. Broaden the network (case correspondents). Further develop the secondary products of the project (general background information about international crimes, academic and news articles, working papers, a discussion forum, streaming and video presentations and a social media platform).
-Phase 4 (year 4): Continue working on new cases and broadening (financial) support for the project. Broaden the network (case correspondents). Further develop the secondary products of the project (general background information about international crimes, academic and news articles, working papers, a discussion forum, streaming and video presentations and a social media platform).

After these 4 years the Ministry of Security and Justice extended the subsidy for this project for one additional year (2016).
