Virginia Sports and Entertainment Law Journal (USA)

About VaSE
The Virginia Sports and Entertainment Law Journal is a comprehensive review of current issues arising in both the sports and entertainment law arenas.  We publish articles from law professors, practicing attorneys and students exploring the impact of legal issues on the sports and entertainment industries.  The publication is intended to be not only a useful tool for the academic, but also informative for either the sports or entertainment practitioner and journalist.
Currently, all members of the Virginia Sports and Entertainment Law Journal are selected through the Law School’s Unified Journal Tryout process.  Interested first year students should complete the tryout during one of the designated weekends in their second semester of law school and indicate interest in the Virginia Sports and Entertainment Law Journal when returning their tryouts.  Second year students and transfers can complete the Unified Journal Tryout in the fall semester.  Our goal is to accept all qualified individuals that express an interest in the subject matter and a desire to work to improve the Journal.  This has historically meant accepting about fifteen to twenty students as a result of the spring semester tryout process.  However, the Virginia Sports and Entertainment Law Journal currently has no membership quota or maximum.  In an effort to meet interested students and answer questions on a person-to-person basis, the Journal will hold at least one open house prior to the first tryout weekend.
VaSE will gladly consider unsolicited manuscripts and notes for publication on topics related to sports, entertainment and the law.  Please see our Submissions Page for more information.
In addition to publishing the Journal two times a year, the Virginia Sports and Entertainment Law Journal has used the time, resources and talents of its staff to hold events exploring the interaction between sports, entertainment and the law.  Examples of these popular events, which are open to the UVa Law School and the greater outside community, include this past year’s “Life as a Sports Agent.”  In addition, the Virginia Sports and Entertainment Law Journal co-hosted with the Virginia CLE the First Sports and Entertainment Law Symposium in February 2007.  Please contact our Managing Editor if you are interested in helping organize or if you would like to participate in one of our events.
Please explore the links above to learn more about our publication.  We thank you for your interest and time.
