Doctoral Research Forum

The Netherlands Network for Human Rights Research is pleased to announce its second Doctoral Research Forum in partnership with the University of Groningen!
After a successful online edition in 2021, this year’s Forum will be held in-person (online participation possible) on 14 October 2022 at the Van Swinderen Huys, Groningen. The Forum will bring together PhD candidates who engage in research in the field of human rights. The objective of the Forum is to give participants the opportunity to present their work in a collaborative and informal setting and to facilitate interaction between junior and senior members. To provide valuable feedback to participants, senior members of the Network will serve as discussants.
We accept submissions from PhD members at any stage of their doctoral project, and particularly encourage applications from those who are currently in the first and second years of their PhD programme. Abstracts can outline the candidate’s research project, a chapter of their thesis, or an article in progress. Final presentations are expected to be 10 minutes and will be followed by a discussion round during which a senior member of the Network will offer feedback to each presenter individually as well as a general Q&A. Selected presenters may also have the opportunity to publish a post on the Network’s Human Rights Here blog (subject to editorial decision and review).
To register, please complete this form. Through the form you can also submit your abstract (max. 500 words). If you already have in mind a senior member of the Network that may be a suitable discussant, you are encouraged to indicate this in your submission. The deadline for the submission of abstracts is 5 August 2022. Candidates whose submissions are selected will be notified by 12 August 2022.
Please note that only NNHRR members who are PhD candidates at the time of the Forum are eligible to participate. For more information on the NNHRR and how to join, visit our webpage! For PhD members of the Network a travel and accommodation grant may be available.
