We are pleased to announce that the latest NNHRR Report, titled “Human Rights, Collaboration, Community”, has just been published. The Report covers the Network's activities, projects and events which occurred between 1 January 2023 and 31 August 2025.
Following a foreword by Prof. Jasper Krommendijk, Chairperson of the Steering Committee, Part 1 – “Connecting Institutions”, outlines the institutional structure and functioning of the Network. It details the Network’s governance framework, including the Steering Committee (comprising representatives from all member institutions), the Academic Coordination and Secretariat (supported by the T.M.C. Asser Institute), and the Advisory Board. This section also provides an overview of the Network’s membership and its growth over the reporting period.
Part 2 – “Community: Flagship Events” highlights the flagship events organised by the Network during the reporting period. These include the Toogdag (the Network’s annual research conference), PhD Trainings for both early-stage (1st and 2nd year) and advanced (3rd and 4th year) PhD candidates, as well as the Doctoral Research Forum.
Furthermore, Part 3 – “Collaboration: Consolidating Research”, focuses on the Network’s activities beyond flagship events, aimed at fostering research collaboration and supporting PhD members. These efforts include the establishment and funding of Working Groups, opportunities to publish PhD theses in collaboration with T.M.C. Asser Press and Springer, contributions to the Network’s blog Human Rights Here, participation in the Max van der Stoel Award (with categories for Best Doctoral Thesis and Best Master’s Thesis), and access to two dedicated grants: the Research Workshops Grant and the Conference Attendance Grant for PhD members.
Part 4 – “Communicating Human Rights” presents the Network’s outreach and communications strategy, emphasising its role in strengthening member engagement and visibility. It offers an overview of the Network’s digital platforms, including its website, monthly newsletter, and presence on LinkedIn and Bluesky.
Finally, Part 5 – “Looking Ahead”, outlines the Network’s priorities in the future. The Network wishes to increase the visibility of its PhD members and wishes to continue supporting them through the Conference Attendance Grant Scheme. Another priority will be supporting the Working Groups, and their events and conferences. The Network also wishes to continue growing its blog, Human Rights Here. Finally, the Network will emphasis funding training events and conferences with practitioners.
