Profile

Sara completed her BSc in International Relations at Leiden University and stayed to join the Political Science Master's programme, specialising in National, Ethnic Conflict, & Development. She is currently working on her thesis, investigating why government discourse around female foreign fighters has evolved in recent years and its further implications on ethnic tensions in society. Before joining T.M.C Asser Institute, Sara was an editorial intern at Global Human Rights Defence and a co-creator of The Refugee Curriculum, a teaching resource designed to create a platform for refugee stories and information that is more accessible for schools. Her main areas of interest are gender and violence, neo-Orientalist discourse, and EU migration and asylum law.
